According to the Huffington Post, Amanda Davis with the Fox 5 news in Atlanta Georgia was recently arrested for driving under the influence. Police reports share that she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence because her accident was a result of her driving on the wrong side of the road, hitting another vehicle head on.
Amanda Davis is a well-known news anchor, who during her career has received Emmy awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Davis is on the Fox News between the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. slot, and is a beloved co-anchor on the show. Unfortunately, the charges placed against this 55 year old woman are DUI, reckless driving and failure to maintain her lane.
The Atlanta Police Department shares that the crash occurred just after midnight, and after the collision both cars had significant damage on the front ends. David Jarman, the driver of the other vehicle, complained to the police officers on the scene that he was injured and he was taken to the Grady Memorial Hospital that night to be treated.
Officers on the scene claimed that Davis was believably under the influence as her eyes were watery, she had slurred speech and there was a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. When asked by the police whether she had consumed alcohol that night, Davis did not try to hide that she did. While agreeing to her having consumed alcohol, police report that she refused to participate in a field sobriety test by Breathalyzer.
Despite her efforts, her license was immediately confiscated and they arrested her for suspicion of DUI. She was released from jail, and investigations are pending.
